Elin Kling x Marciano 'Jonna' sweater  ]

My beautiful cropped sweater in all its plum gorgeousness that I bought hastily the other day. It was only after going home did I realize that the fit wasn't the best for my short stature so I've been forced to decide which other piece from the collection I should exchange it for. The sweater came in a dark chino colour as well as the plum but the latter colour seemed more regal to me. A pleasant surprise as well when the gifted transparent/chevron/trio clutch was in the same hue.
Makes me feel like I'm on the same wavelength as the big guns at Guess; picking plum and all.

BREE London 100 wallet ]

Whilst meandering through the Hyatt in Waikiki, I scooped up this beautiful, black, snakeskin grained wallet at BREE. With its supple texture, tetrahedron shape, and liquid silver zipper, the wallet is a definite contender for slipping into Alexander Wang's Objects collection seamlessly. I couldn't justify keeping it for myself so it now resides in LA with Stevy. Purchase the London 100 in a variety of colours at a deeply discounted price than I paid (damnit!) here.

[ Alexander Wang intarsia bra ]

Picked this bad boy up at the Nordstrom Rack in Hawaii. We really need an NR in Vancouver man! Although it's probably best for my wallet that they don't. As soon as I felt the soft, stretchy texture of the bra, I immediately knew it would be a perfect opponent for emulating half a mummy wrap, and half of Leeloo's thermal bandages. Yes. This is just one of the many convoluted reasons behind my garment purchases.
It comes in a slick pastel green, properly dubbed 'Aloe', here

Celebrating this Valentine's day with new lacy next-to-nothings adorned with oversized bows and other pretty-little-things in sparkling lush velvet. Apart from being lovestruck all day, I will be packing for LA and have recently purchased Bumble & bumble's Texture (Un)dressing Creme and Fresh Sugar's Plum Lip Tint to accompany me. Friends in the form of beauty products are nice.
Happy Valentine's Day!

versace x h&m

Oh Donatella how you taunt me with all your beautiful designs Versace has created for H&M! I heard that the lines started at 4AM. DAMN! I was already pushing my luck asking my guy to bring me to H&M for the collection. Lines were still going by the time I got there, which was late afternoon, and the selection of items available were slimmer than the calories in a skinny latte. People are vicious when they want some collaborative goodness! What I loved about this collection on top of the wild prints and the bold colours were the details. Including metal tips for the pleat points of a skirt. Genius!

obakki

[ obakki silk blouse & scarlett shorts]

Several days ago, luxury Canadian designer Obakki closed their Gastown store in order to focus on growth in other areas. Needless to say everyone was devastated but immediately perked up when Obakki announced their 2 day warehouse sale. The selection was immense with my mind still on a wool coat with a cocoon cut and a diaphanous maxi skirt in the colour of mocha. I emerged with these two pieces; one of which I remember eyeing at their FW 2011 fashion show. I keep telling everyone they're shorts but the sheer wool panel at the back suggests otherwise... The blouse spoke out to me due to it's slippery soft feel and the unique cowling of the neckline. As I was leaving, I was told about the Obakki Rainmaker Auction on eBay that runs from November 1 to 14 with 100% of proceeds going towards the drilling of wells in South Sudan! If you haven't already, check it out as new items are posted everyday!

Last month, an invitation was presented by one of the board members of Portobello West to attend the September market fair. Although the monthly fair has been around since 2006, I have never personally been exposed to it until recently. To say that I was surprised would be a definite understatement. Portobello West offers artisans more than just a venue to sell their work; it offers them exposure and attention in an appropriate environment. Products offered ranged from a morse code necklace that only pilots will understand to a cheese fork that has been flattened, soldered, and stamped with a certain man's nickname. I like esoteric things apparently so I snapped these up immediately along with a couple bags of oddly addicting sesame + sea salt chocolate. Next Portobello West is on October 30th, 2011.

weekly buys 03

photos by me via naked eye magazine
I picked up this magazine the other day and the first page I flipped to was the interview on Semi Precious Weapons. No joke. I had met the band while I was in England and they were (and currently still are) touring with Lady Gaga so I was lucky enough to go to a few gigs. I met them before I heard their music so I'm probably biased in my opinion but their stuff is worth listening to! Check out their cover of Lady Gaga's Dance in the Dark mixed with their track Statues of Ourselves during a sound check!

HOWEVER, let me reiterate that this is NOT the main reason as to why I bought the magazine. The editorials were just too beautiful! The geometric patterns and the bubble wrap hat photos above are my favorite! xxx

weekly buys 02

(Aritzia hat & Eat, Pray, Love novel by Elizabeth Gilbert)
photos by me
I've wanted a hat for quite some time now. The obsession started after seeing the cute boater ones that Chanel presented on the runway. I found the perfect one in California with a not so perfect price. So upsetting. After searching high and low I've found one that fits my checklist for a good hat: 1)Price? 2)Color? 3)Material? 4)And most importantly, is it big enough to fit/sit perfectly on my massive head! The only problem is that it's from Aritzia, meaning that you'll probably see the same hat on numerous heads all around Canada. GR8 for the business, not great for me. I find that certain things start to lose their appeal once it becomes TOO mainstream. Anyway, imma keep wearing mine because I love it sooo!

When I went to go buy this book all I could find was the movie cover edition! I usually like buying the original book cover and this time was no exception. I always lose my place when reading and I don't like to dog-ear the pages so a bookmark is a must. Often time I don't see the point of an actual 'bookmark' so I just use random things such as cards, receipts, the fortune from my cookies, anything! In this case it's a Chill Winston business card. I love it there. So... dare I say, chill? xxx

weekly buys 01

(L-R: H&M ginormous rug/shawl/blanket/scarf hybrid, black lace lingerie, MAC foundation, gray lace lingerie, polka dot ruffle hem pajama shorts)
(L-R: OPI 'Jade Is the New Black' nail polish, Vogue US October issue, pink lace lingerie)
photos by me
notes:
1) Apparently I like lace? Especially in underwear? Who doesn't though really... I'm not a fan of lace bras though... I feel like they're not practical.

2) After painting my nails this color I felt like I was the girl version of the green lantern or something... Is it really the new black?
3) JUST finished the October issue. And just in time for the November one. Does anyone else feel like it takes so long to fully read each issue?
