There's just something about fluffy pillows, a gargantuan bed, and sunlight pouring into the room that makes me want to peel off all traces of clothing, climb into bed, and absorb everything into my bare skin.
333x better with my man.

Mondrian LA

[ Topshop dress & necklace ]

My last few days in LA and we had the privilege of staying at the Mondrian LA on Sunset Boulevard. I have a soft spot for beautifully decorated interiors and the immediate weak-in-the-knees feeling I received upon walking into the lobby was nothing compared to what I felt upon setting foot in our palace. Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz' modern contemporary design aesthetic is seen everywhere throughout the hotel. From the lamp stand imitating a wooden branch to the cleverly hidden flat screen TV within the oversized revolving mirror. I love people who are so meticulous in whatever they do. No matter what their craft is.

Here I am frolicking around the lounge area of the room - as opposed to the sleep&dream area of the room I guess? Seriously. SO much space! - with my balloon. We were just about to go on an adventure in Koreatown to find dinner followed by having a few laughs at The Comedy Store so naturally, the mullet dress had to make an appearance. Articles of clothing that have a slight twist in their design really attracts me. It's also a great take on the classic LBD. So why not?

legend to someone

Situated at the Mondrian with SP & CW with the earlier part of our day exploring our latest habitat, Silverlake. The burning sun caused us to duck into Intellegentsia for brunch where the obviously appropriate thing for me to do was paint my nails while a track download took place. Don't ask! Continued on to meander through little boutiques with wet nails and came out a guitar strap and knuckle ring richer. Driving back to Beverly Hills, SP insisted we needed to go to the La Luz De Jesus Gallery along with the regular stop at Umami burger. I strongly urge anyone and everyone to go as a wide array of eclectic art and reading material is available there. Seeing the works of Lou Beach and Sam Lubicz was very intriguing. Who knew cut outs could be so fun?

I love going to the Standard hotels in LA. The one on the strip always reminds me of a certain Sex and the City episode whenever I walk into the lobby and see that hunky model in the enormous tank. You know? The one where Carrie goes to LA to make her life into a movie? No? Anyway, the photos above were taken at the Downtown Standard where we had planned to attend a rooftop pool party of some sort? In between bouts of waiting and deciding, we ended up having lunch accompanied with mimosas at the hotel restaurant. As for the evening, the shenanigans that occurred are too hilarious to tell. Side note: I wish I got a better shot of this banana bikini to show how Prada-esque it is with its repetitive prints of the herbaceous plant. Next time...

ace

photos by me, EY & MC
WARNING: IMAGE HEAVY. My final Palm Springs post! Yahoo! I'm sorry for dragggggging this out for so long but I just felt like the Ace Hotel deserved a post of its own. I've whittled the plethora of images down to a measly (not really...) 22 photos. SO. About the hotel.... resort? Hotel? Both? I loved the vibe as soon as we pulled up. The staff are soooo chill and everybody there were the epitome of California style aka casual aka relaxed aka duuuuuude, lets go get another beer. To me the target audience seemed to be aiming towards young, mature (?) adults and older. There were several cute quirks I loved about the place. The photo booth in the lobby, chilled cucumber water available all day, the diner, FREE INTERNET (so hard to come by in hotels), ping pong tables by the pool, movie theater, doggy park (such a cute idea), HOT towel boys, even HOTTER girls coming by everyday to refill your minibar, late pool hours, Karaoke nights in the bar, free bikes during your stay, hammocks (although they slightly terrify me...), and the fact that Perez Hilton stayed there a couple of days beforehand. Gotta love the celebrity names added to your guest list right ACE? ;) xxx
