More sleepytime dressing in LA. This genre of dressing is becoming my uniform very quickly as I realize how this city calls upon the drapiest and easiest pieces of your wardrobe. Spring is in full bloom here and jacaranda petals are littering the ground and tops of cars in such a pretty way. What drew me to this shirt when I first saw it on the Topshop website was the misalignment of stripes between the back and the front. The transition of the light blue to medium blue was also a nice touch. When it arrived in the mail, I was super happy to see that its sleeves came pre-rolled to save me the trouble of finding a nice, neat way to do this. (I've only recently perfected my denim jacket sleeve roll) On top of that, it is possibly the softest shirt I own. Like it was washed with flower petals in the most delicate cycle for maximum softness.

[ Brooks Brothers shirt, Brandy Melville shorts, Alexander McQueen creepers, House of Harlow sunglasses ]

Back to back blog posts with the same short shorts from Brandy Melville... I hope I'm not judged too hard. Inspired by the A Wang ss14 collection filled with what I can only describe as 'sleepy chic', I dove into my wardrobe to see if I could mimic the look for Stevy's album release party that night. (P.S. go buy it!) While I save up $895 for the real thing, I felt this $100 alternative might satiate my need for runway boxer shorts and matching shirt. Thanks to a very well fitted, old Brooks Brothers shirt with awesome French cuffs, some white cutoffs, clean creepers, and a crisp backdrop, I think I emulated the hazy, sleepwalker vibe well. Or so I'd like to think.

Upon waiting for a friend to meet us at Max Brenner's, Stevy and I found ourselves having time to walk around the block and take some pictures with those fun Citi bikes New York now has to offer. Outfit of choice included a muscle tank from Brandy Melville with full Mean Girls effect included, pastel pink pyjama shorts, my mom's floral Gucci purse, and my stark white creepers. Ray Bans and vintage Madonna jacket again as circulars. And after a completely saccharine lunch due to a chocolate pizza, I went from rolling around a bicycle to swinging from a bellhop's cart at the hotel. Natural transition, I'd say.

[ H&M sheer mullet top, Rag & Bone 'Highclare' leather shorts, McQueen creepers, Folli Follie bag ]

Still flipping through pages of my Hong Kong diary in the form of iPhoto and I still have so many updates from my trip there. Here's one from when I visited the Soho area of HK in hopes of visiting some vintage stores and seeking out this one cafĂ© I heard about from an organic grocer a day or two prior. (Will elaborate more on this in the photo diary) Once again, Hong Kong's thick humidity called for the staple 'shorts + tee' combo and it gave me a chance to whip out my beloved pair of leather & lace shorts, whom the masterminds behind Rag & Bone created. I have such hearts in my eyes whenever I gaze across these shorts in my closet. The leather is so buttery soft and the lace so delicately pretty that combining these two fabrics is such a tactile sensation. See a more dedicated picture to them that will make you want to pet your computer screen here

Not to be confused with Jardine's Lookout, Ted's vantage point includes a great view of Moon Street from its seriously tucked away eatery. Having never travelled to the Star Street precinct of Wan Chai, finding this place was a nice little adventure with pleasant discoveries of an organic grocers, a spectacles shop, and the Phillip Lim and Carven boutique on the way. Annual trips to Hong Kong means I have the whole attire formula down-pat: comfortable flat shoes & something lightweight due to the copious amounts of walking & the humidity. On this particular occasion I opted for my new favourite tunic and a double dose of paisley. I couldn't believe my serendipity when I found out my new scarf that Scarlett Fashion sent me magically matched my recently acquired bandana shorts with the same twisted teardrop design. The obvious pairing of the two was so blatant and tempting that I caved. Thank you to Warren and Ambrose from Ted's Lookout for an awesome lunch & for etching Kate Moss on your wall. It's always nice to stare at some version of her.

90's nostalgia

I just got back to LA from Hong Kong and to really 'America' things up for me we took to the batting cages and arcade games at Castle Park in Sherman Oaks. It was here that I discovered my hidden talent (or beginners luck) at skee-ball. The only thing better about the fact that I can now gloat about this is that the horrible 90's carpeting went so well with my equally dated 1998/99 outfit details. See spaghetti straps, athletic shorts, and chokers for more proof. Of course they've all been updated a little & my hair no longer carries those awful yet awesome butterfly clips but the same essence still remains. In addition I put on my new virgin white creepers reminiscent of Japanese uwabaki to really make it seem like high school again.
