Shot in Room 107 at the Viceroy Palm Springs by Steve Pyne

Just got back from Palm Springs last week and I am now feeling refreshed and rejuvenated! It's always a good way to start off the new year with the ones who made the previous one special. Hello 2015! I've come to PS a couple of times and I like to bounce around with hotels and airbnb's to try different ambiances. The Viceroy is definitely the epitome of refined relaxation. The plushy beds, the citrus chairs, the crystal fireplace... perfection. These were taken on our last night after a beautiful dinner at Citron and I was in a full dreamy haze. To accompany my fuzzy state of being, I went with this Reformation dress that Steve totally lapped up instantly (yay). I love the gritty colour and just the simple ease of all of Ref's pieces. They've got that whole sustainably sexy thing DOWN. Also on were these nude suede Aquazzura's that are so comfy and so versatile that I have to put personal bans on myself from wearing them all the time. Thanks for the memories Palm Springs! Now back to real life stuff.

When I saw this distressed denim mini dress from Olivier's resort 14 collection, I knew I had to have it. So began my quest for it and when finally purchased and tailored, it was just in time to wear it out to the desert in Palm Springs. More specifically, the Whitewater Preserve. The shredded-to-bits neckline and bleached as denim was super obvious to pair with an old pair of Frye cowboy boots. I'm looking forward to pairing it with heels at some point though. These type of slip on & go dresses are my favourite purely for its no brainer ease of dressing in the morning. Makes things go much faster when I have an impatient male companion who takes about 1/3 of the time it takes me to get ready. Boys.

Another Coachella post, another drink in my hand. Who can say no to a morning mimosa while walking through the dreamy grounds of The Parker in Palm Springs? Every corner we took was out of a picturesque storybook with ivy covered bungalows to oversized hammocks to play around in. The fun didn't stop there - as soon as we entered the hotel, we were told to follow the B's that led to the shopbazaar event. We went through the maze, turning this way and that, and emerged at the lemonade stand and the ping pong tables. In between those was the entrance to the event where brands and businesses working with Harper's Bazaar had collaborated with one another to curate Coachella specific things such as bikinis, pool friendly jewelry, espadrilles, denim choices, and festival wear. I was ready to pick up a pair of Manebi espadrilles or Ancient Greek sandals but couldn't pick just one. Worn to the event was an all white ensemble with a splash of gold added from an old pair of Jimmy Choo's.
Thank you to Harper's Bazaar, The Parker Palm Springs, and Otte NY for hosting such a lovely event!

So glad to finally be back home & healthy from Coachella. It was such a wonderful whirlwind of memories that will forever stay with me. Photographed here are little snips of our rad log cabin we rented during the festival. (A dedicated post to said cabin will be coming shortly). Dress of choice was something I've recently unearthed and am so glad to have done so given its shimmery iridescent purple/charcoal colour and how super easy it is. Bought it numerous years ago but am happy to see that it's still available! That's what I love about American Apparel. These mules are current season Zara and am in love with the fact that I can give my ankles a rest from the many convoluted straps they're usually in. That's my mule theory.

P.S. I've added an Ask.fm for a more interactive comment section experience! So ask away.

Discoveries of beautifully quiet places are always a welcomed activity. That's exactly what happened driving back from Palm Springs; first finding a narrow, desolate path and then some abandoned tour trams. Shooting in environmentally barren circumstances is fun because of all the natural stimuli to work with (ie. strong sunrays, wind that could literally blow me away, and dry desert heat haze). My kitty claws made things even more interesting.

I love the idea of basics that are slightly off kilter as if they've been injected with hydraulics. For instance, my outfit may just seem like a white under palette with a layer of loud fringey-ness on top. And it is. But looking closely, my bra/top is made of a thick, bandage gauze material while my skirt has all this lovely satin, scalloping detail.
All of this is really just an invite for you to come closer to me. Finger beckon ensues.

A month later but just in time for next year's pre-sale tickets? That was me justifying my abhorrently late photo diary post from Coachella. But it's here!! And hopefully my pretty pictures will make up for my tardiness. Highlights from my first Coachella experience: when Solange came on stage with The XX and I gave a fangirl squeal, Stevy's random reunions with several highschool pals, grooving to Simian Mobile Disco just when the sun set and the night air still clung onto the warmth of the day, La Roux, Stevy at Tame Impala, Wild Belle, the Sahara Tent, making various sponsored instant photo cards (Heineken, General Store, etc.), the Fruttare bars(!), freshening up at the H&M tent, evening walkbacks to our car, CRAB FRIES, assigning the snail as the meeting spot until we realized it was mobile, swaying with the palm trees while Beach House crooned, reuniting my love for disposable cameras, our sanctuary that was our bed after every long day, the surplus amount of sheepskin at our Coachella home that I was definitely OK with, the open backed stages that allowed an excellent desert background for the artists, wondering about the story behind the balloon chain for much too long than we care to admit, the Cabazon dinosaurs, yard sales in Palm Springs that conjures up such items as that Oriental crane covered desk, the sandstorm, that one morning we could sleep in & enjoy the secret garden, James Blake, and just taking it all in before 3 days of festival fun were gone!

On next year's to do list: Ferris wheel, Yuma tent, windmill shoot, and Palm Springs aerial tramway.
