Oh I absolutely love it when it's sunny in Vancouver!!! So much so that I used 3 exclamation marks - that's a lot. Anyway, with such a rarity of the aforementioned happening along with my wanting to doc this sick winged jacket I got a couple weeks back, Spencer (my new fab blogger buddy) and I went to Stanley Park to snap a few touristy photos in front of the totem poles. We managed to get a good amount of unblocked shots before the numerous tourist busses came rolling in, which was our cue to leave. On doing so, I kid you not, it seemed like the longest, most convoluted route out of a park. We questioned ourselves numerous times as to whether or not we had already passed the exit & were actually just driving around in circles.

Back to the jacket, along with coolness factor 10 of giving me wings, it is actually super warm & comfortable. Usually JScott's designs are quite wild & 'out there' but thought this totem pole design was the tamer one of his pieces thus allowing me to pull it off. I'll leave his extreme cutout track jackets for my girl Britney.

marciano x travel & leisure destination style event.

Event coverage for a private event that Guess by Marciano were having last Thursday with Travel + Leisure Magazine! The whole idea behind their new collection is that they've divided the pieces to correlate to a specific style destination, which makes shopping much easier for those jetsetters. Plus, I'm all for ultra organized shopping. Their style destinations include Sydney, Prague, Tahiti, and Miami & you can see which city suits you by taking their quiz! I went to the event before I did the quiz & was drawn to the lime green tiger print corset & leather trimmed jacket and shorts combo from the Prague set. Perhaps a foretelling of where I'll visit next?! Wishful thinking.

Special thank you to Brendan, Lindsay, and Culinary Capers Vancouver for catering!
Appropriately themed cookies in the form of suitcases are a win in my books.

This outfit post is to demonstrate all those times you want to wear a particular dress, but the weather's just not letting you do so. This conundrum happens to me all too often. Either I like wearing clothes that contradict the current season or I just like making my life difficult just cause. Whatever the reason may be, here I am being insistent on wearing my cheong sam dress by the Aussie label, Stylestalker when it was much too cold for it. Because of said insistence, I had to swipe this sweater from Stevy's closet to keep me warm. Although I was very happy with the construction of it. The sweater neckline was low enough to showcase that awesome eastern collar on the dress & the sweater hem wasn't too long ensuring you to still see a good chunk of shanghai print.

Shot on location in front of Church Boutique in LA. I highly recommend this boutique to anyone who enjoys well curated fashion-as-art pieces. If that's not your thing, at least stop by & snap some photos with the beautiful store exterior & check out the lovely carvings on the tree bench because I didn't notice those until right now. D'oh.

As promised, this is the conclusion to the two part post where one lone t-shirt dress is documented being worn during the day & night. With so many choices out there when making purchase decisions, it's important to remember two key things: longevity & versatility. In my mind, if a piece can be worn on multiple occasions in a multitude of ways, it's a good purchase. Back to the outfit. In order to differentiate between a day look and really cement an evening one, I strapped on a pair of heels, bulked up on the bling, whipped on a belt to hoist that hemline higher, and slicked on some coral lippy to match my belt colour. Shot on location at Skybar in the Mondrian Hotel in LA.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

This outfit post comes in 2 parts as I wished to convey how one piece I wear during the day can be transitioned into night! Obviously I'm not the first to do this but thought I'd challenge myself to make a t-shirt wearable for an event in the evening. Anyway so here's my very beautiful, silky A. Wang t-shirt dress that weighs a lot more than it sounds from all that bottom hem studding. Worn to browse the new spring collection at the Phillip Lim boutique on Robertson while I was in LA. Now since I like being comfortable when I go shopping, I usually wear flats; plus flat shoes send out an immediate message of casualness. Denim is always seen as the everyday workwear material, which is why I threw that on to really 'day up' my outfit. Accessories are kept minimal, simple bracelets, slate coloured sunglasses, nude lips, and a low slung messy pony to cap it off. Part II of post coming next!

wrap, embellish & encase.

Thought I'd do a post solely focusing on the pieces that have been wrapping my fingers, embellishing my neck & wrist, and encasing my iPhone: my bling. Nah, I'm saying that sarcastically and would much rather refer to them as what they really are. Although bling is just so much more fun to say than accessories! Anyway, yes. In chronological order for acquisition of pieces, I'd have to say that the Topshop necklace is the oldest one here. Bought while I was studying in the UK & first discovering that such a heaven as Topshop exists. Second from the line here would be my Cavalli bangle, which I believe I bought on sale at Netaporter. Then came the Low Luv ring from the cutest boutique here in Vancouver, Holly Boutique. My other beautiful ring was gifted to me by Stevy for Christmas after he heard me mention Unearthen once. And the latest addition to my accessories drawer is my ridiculously sexy holographic iPhone case by Céline purchased at Holt Renfrew as a birthday gift to myself. I love when everything I'm wearing comes from such a potpourri of places. Fashion stories.
