blood drips.

IMG_0590IMG_0610IMG_0592IMG_0607IMG_0614

Took a note from Prabal Gurung's SS 2013 bloody nail trend (Exhibit A) for Halloween this year and realized that blood drips are harder to create than you'd think. Anyway, matched my blood red nails with deep red lipstick to go with my sexy señorita costume, which accompanied my handsome rose wielding Zorro. Sticking with the predominantly mentioned colour in this post, we'll go paint the town in that shade too.

Happy Halloween everyone!

Dinner dates with your best girlfriend are the cutest aren't they? Particularly so when dinner turns into a little tea party. I mean how adorable is the whole getup at Xishi where they serve you mini bowls of popcorn while you wait for your food to come! That plus the purple ambient glow that the neon bar lights give off sets a nice mood. And the detailing on the tea set! Fantastic.

Outfit of choice was this wonderfully slippery silky top by Wayne. I enjoy the fact that the zippers are fully functional, thus allowing me to dictate just how much vermillion I want on show. Options are so good to have.

tokyo: motonari ono.

Second designer from Tokyo Fashion Week and here are my favourites from Motonari Ono's 2013 set. Especially that saucy red lace number that I need for my already burgeoning lace laden closet. Aside from all the adorable lady like pieces and Peter Pan collars he sent down, Motonari did something unconventional. His models came down the runway carrying bust figures, which were dressed in his designs. They then proceeded to hang the mannequins on a display for the audience to have a beautiful and impactful overall image. Talk about making those models work it.

[ Kain t-shirt & 3.1 Phillip Lim skirt  ]

Photos by myself & Tomás Uribe

I know I'm about a month or so late in posting photos for FNO and have feelings of guilt but better late than never! It was Vancouver's first Fashion's Night Out with many more to come. Tons of retailers participated including Jennyfleur with her little clothing truck shop, Secret Location giving out cute gift bags of tea, and newly added boutique TODAY, had a popcorn machine making snacks while everyone shopped. Most of my time was spent at Ishara and their complimentary brow, beauty, & blow bar on their upper floor.

Outfit of choice was my Phillip Lim skirt in this rad paisley print and my beaten up Kain t-shirt. I just love how Lim took such an ordinarily ugly print such as paisley and slapped it onto this bright, bold magenta slab of a background and made a bubble skirt out of it. Then proceeded to add tiny flecks of gold in between.
Genius, right?

tokyo: alice auaa.

Photos from Tokyo Fashion Week are being posted on Style for the first time (yay!), which gives us a chance to see what my kooky fellow Asians are up to. Looks above are those that literally stood out to me in Alice Auaa's spring 2013 collection. As one can obviously see, Yasutaka Funakoshi (designer of Alice Auaa), is heavily influenced by Alice in Wonderland and aims to take a creepy, convoluted twist on her world. See shredded cage skirt & wearable desk above. Hey someone's gotta dress those Japanese Gothic Lolita's of the world that I so desperately wish I could be a part of.

I don't know what was more fun while modelling for Ishara's lookbook, getting to wear Smythe's persian lamb coat that makes me feel like I've stepped into the world of Gossip Girl, or having Rebecca Minkoff's ubiquitous purses slung on me while grinning with satisfaction knowing they have the sweetest style name: mac daddy. Let's not forget the aforementioned term is used to describe something with an unusual power over women; I love fitting names. I'd have to say it was a sweet balance as I worked with a wonderful team. Thank you to everyone at Ishara and especially to my beautiful friend Sonam!
