I know I'm about a month or so late in posting photos for FNO and have feelings of guilt but better late than never! It was Vancouver's first Fashion's Night Out with many more to come. Tons of retailers participated including Jennyfleur with her little clothing truck shop, Secret Location giving out cute gift bags of tea, and newly added boutique TODAY, had a popcorn machine making snacks while everyone shopped. Most of my time was spent at Ishara and their complimentary brow, beauty, & blow bar on their upper floor.

Outfit of choice was my Phillip Lim skirt in this rad paisley print and my beaten up Kain t-shirt. I just love how Lim took such an ordinarily ugly print such as paisley and slapped it onto this bright, bold magenta slab of a background and made a bubble skirt out of it. Then proceeded to add tiny flecks of gold in between. 

Genius, right?

tokyo: alice auaa.

Photos from Tokyo Fashion Week are being posted on Style for the first time (yay!), which gives us a chance to see what my kooky fellow Asians are up to. Looks above are those that literally stood out to me in Alice Auaa's spring 2013 collection. As one can obviously see, Yasutaka Funakoshi (designer of Alice Auaa), is heavily influenced by Alice in Wonderland and aims to take a creepy, convoluted twist on her world. See shredded cage skirt & wearable desk above. Hey someone's gotta dress those Japanese Gothic Lolita's of the world that I so desperately wish I could be a part of.

I don't know what was more fun while modelling for Ishara's lookbook, getting to wear Smythe's persian lamb coat that makes me feel like I've stepped into the world of Gossip Girl, or having Rebecca Minkoff's ubiquitous purses slung on me while grinning with satisfaction knowing they have the sweetest style name: mac daddy. Let's not forget the aforementioned term is used to describe something with an unusual power over women; I love fitting names. I'd have to say it was a sweet balance as I worked with a wonderful team. Thank you to everyone at Ishara and especially to my beautiful friend Sonam!

velvet smooth.

[ Ciaté velvet nails in Berry Poncho ]

Trying out new beauty trends is always fun. In this case, a textured velvet mani by Ciaté in a rich plum colour. The whole concept is very interesting as it gives people the chance to wear a texture on your fingertips. I bought my kit at Sephora in Vancouver where they have a royal blue and matte grey colour available as well. The whole application takes time but dusting your nails with a salt shaker of crushed velvet powder keeps things entertaining.

My captions state what I'd like you to focus on in each photo. Enjoy Hong Kong through my lens. Many restaurants and clubs I went to were members only and private so I couldn't photograph the beauty inside. Although, everyone knows the allure of Hong Kong are from external sources: the humid heat, the forever bustling streets, the decaying buildings to the modern skyscrapers, and the marvellous views. 

I guess the shopping isn't so bad either... Smirk
